Dear Friend,

We know that this is a challenging time for North Texas, the entire country, for our friends across the Pacific in Japan, and around the world. As many other organizations have done, the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth is taking steps to combat the coronavirus pandemic. We have cancelled all events in March and we will make announcements soon about April programming. The Sun & Star Legacy Award Dinner on May 7 has been postponed until the fall. Additionally, the 2020 Dallas-Sendai Young Ambassadors Program has been postponed and we hope to bring students to Japan in 2021.

We have also made the decision to close our offices for the foreseeable future. We will be practicing ‘social distancing,’ and working from home. As soon as possible, we will return to work in our offices, but for the time being, should you need to contact us you can still reach us through our social media platforms and info@jasdfw.org. We thank everyone in our community for their patience at this time.

The current situation is especially difficult for small businesses. Below, we included a list of some Japanese businesses in DFW area for you to support. For some vendors, like Kinokuniya and Daiso, they also sell books, games, and origami which can be useful for family activities while staying indoors. If you do choose to visit these businesses in-person, we remind you to frequently wash your hands and to practice social distancing, among other precautions. Our newsletter in April will have updates on events and you can always check www.jasdfw.org for information on spring programming.
