Friday, July 16 | 6:00 pm - 7:00 pm
JASDFW’s annual sake tasting program is back and once again in a virtual format. This is a rare opportunity for everyone from beginners to seasoned sommeliers to learn about and sample sake. Our Sake Set includes a Junmai, a Nigori, and a Junmai Daiginjo for a well-rounded experience that exposes novice and expert drinkers to a variety of sakes. Each is in a 300ml bottle, which is the best quantity for an enjoyable drinking experience and you can share with 2-3 people. The price includes the shipping fee and they will be delivered to your home before the event! We will also share special recipes to pair with your Sake Set. You can prepare your meal before the event or after – it is all up to you!

Born and raised in Texas, my experience with Japanese culture was limited to Ramen noodles, my little brother’s Pokemon trading cards, and pictures of Japan in National Geographic. After graduating with a communications degree and a law degree, I did some soul-searching and found myself wanting something a bit more fun, creative, and different. Every aspect of this business from sourcing new products, working with importers, creating new content, and getting to know our wonderful customers has been meaningful. Even the challenge of figuring out how to ship alcohol into each of the 50 states [we aren’t quite there yet!] has been a fun challenge. The best parts are 1) suggesting brews to novice drinkers and having them come back to try more and 2) sharing a multi-generation brewery’s story with our customers. Sake Social has come to be one of my most exciting adventures.
Kelly McKisic WSA/NASA Certified Sommelier, Sake Social
I was born on a sunny August afternoon in Paris, France. My expat parents entertained their expat friends all the time, so our home was filled with noise, people, languages, food and a lot of love. This exposure to all things foreign, planted seeds of culinary curiosity in me and led me to become the chef and Certified Sommelier that I am today.
My goal here at Sake Social is to give you easy and simple recipes and to help you find the best food pairings to go with your sake selections.
I live in Ventura County, CA with my husband and our 2 sons. You can find me on Instagram @Foodwithawink.
