Investing in North Texas and the United States: Japan’s Dynamic Financial Sector
Friday, February 25, 2022 | 11:30 am - 1:30 pm
Although its East Asian neighbor may receive many of the headlines, Japan is the #1 foreign investor into both the U.S. and North Texas economies. Japan plays a vital and essential role in the well-being of Americans’ lives, and this is a story not often shared in the media. Dallas is also home to three of Japan’s largest banks, including Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation (SMBC), which support over 200 Japanese companies’ operations in North Texas and the region. Moreover, financial institutions, like SMBC, are an integral part of the Japanese market as the country continues to be one of the globe’s largest economies. Please join us for a conversation on Japan’s financial presence in the U.S., the current state of the Japanese banking sector and its relationship to the country’s business climate, and the prospects that the future might hold.
This program is part of the NAJAS/KKC Business Speaker Series, made possible by generous contributions from the National Association of Japan-America Societies and Keizai Koho Center. The 2022 NAJAS/KKC Business Speaker Series program in North Texas is in partnership with the World Affairs Council of Dallas/Fort Worth.
