Message from New Interim Executive Director Cori Hallock

October 30, 2023

Dear Friends and Supporters of the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth,

I am honored to return to the JASDFW family as Interim Executive Director. As many of you know, I have supported the Society for nearly ten years in varying roles: volunteer, community partner, and program manager. Although I recently moved to Miami, I am happy for the chance to temporarily return to Dallas to renew many long-standing friendships and to serve a truly remarkable organization which, over the last half century has enriched the lives of the people of North Texas and Japan.

Through my experiences at JASDFW and other Japan-related nonprofits, such as the Fort Worth Japanese Society, the Japan-America Society of Miami/South Florida, the Japan-Exchange and Teaching (JET) program, and the Florida JET Alumni Association, I’ve come to appreciate the vital purpose these organizations serve. The strength and sturdiness of the US-Japan friendship is celebrated, but friendships must be continually reaffirmed to be relied upon. The profound ambition of Japan-America Societies is to instill lofty ideals, like peace and prosperity through mutual support, in the minds of individuals, business leaders, and local policymakers through day-to-day engagement and programming.

Beginning October 24, I will work with the board, staff, and outgoing Executive Director Paul Pass to ensure that JASDFW continues to provide high-caliber, mission-driven programs. I am indebted to the warm-hearted and talented partners, board, and staff for their past efforts. Without their diligence, the Society would not be the thriving and impactful organization it is today.

I look forward to working alongside you all over the coming weeks to further our mission of tolerance, friendship, and understanding between Japan and North Texas.

Sincerely,

Cori M. Hallock
Interim Executive Director
Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth
