Join JASDFW as we gather for a game between the Dallas Mavericks and Washington Wizards
Come join the Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth as we gather to watch the Dallas Mavericks play against the Washington Wizards. While cheering on the hometown Mavericks, you will also be able to see Japanese basketball star and Olympian Rui Hachimura, who plays for the Wizards.
The Mavericks are coming off a successful 2021-22 season in which they reached the Western Conference Finals, the best finish since the team’s 2011 NBA championship. The Mavs are led by Slovenian international Luka Dončić, who was on last year’s All-NBA First Team.
The Wizards feature Rui Hachimura, who is originally from Toyama Prefecture, and starred at Gonzaga University before becoming a professional. He was the first Japanese-born player to be drafted into the NBA first round and he has been with Washington since 2019. Hachimura also competed for Team Japan at the 2020 Summer Olympics and was even one of the flag bearers, along with Yui Sasaki, for the host country.
Japan-related activities will be announced soon. Tickets are in section 308, which offers a courtside view of all the action. Seats are first-come, first-serve, so buy yours today to make sure you do not miss out on this entertaining evening!
