Where: Think Tank Conference Room at JASDFW’s Office (500 N. Central Expressway) in Plano.
Join us on August 29th from 5:30pm-7:00pm in the Think Tank Conference Room at JASDFW’s Office (500 N. Central Expressway) in Plano.
We will have a short presentation on volunteer opportunities with not only JASDFW, but with other non-profit organizations in the DFW area!
Following the presentation, we’ll all learn how to make onigiri, Japanese rice balls, together!
In Japan, there is the concept 同じ釜の飯を食う, which means that we all eat rice from the same pot. This means that strong team building stems from coming together to work, eat, and play.
We at JASDFW recognize that our society is so wonderful because of all the individuals working together. This event is our chance to show our gratitude to our volunteers and members of our Society. This is a free event that will help our volunteers meet one another, network, and have fun.
JASDFW recognizes that there are many allergies and special considerations for diet, so we ask that if you want to eat something other than a shio omusubi (salted rice ball with seaweed) that you bring your own filling. Therefore, this event is BYOF, Bring Your Own Filling!
Feel free to bring your favorite Japanese filling like umeboshi, okaka, konbu, or salmon. You can also be creative and bring things like seasoned taco meat, chicken, or anything else that you’d like to try!
