Japan-in-a-Suitcase and Japanese Language Program invite you to Danran Japan: Bringing Japanese Culture to You!
Danran (団らん) means gathering with those close to you. Join our monthly mini-presentation series as we explore Japan’s rich culture through engaging presentations, live demonstrations, and a bit of language learning—all from the comfort of your home.
Each session offers a unique theme, blending traditional and modern aspects of Japanese culture. Whether you’re curious about customs, art, or language, Danran Japan provides a fun and interactive way to connect with Japan’s vibrant heritage in a welcoming, relaxed atmosphere.
Our first January theme is Setsubun!
Date & Time: Friday, January 24th, 7:15pm – 7:55pm (CST)
Location: Online (Zoom)
Fee: Member $5, Non-member $10
Let’s explore Setsubun (せつぶん・節分), the Japanese tradition marking the end of winter and start of spring, on February 2, 3 or 4. We’ll dive into its customs, traditions, and language expressions and how to celebrate it at your home. Our highlight will be Ehomaki making demonstration, a special Setsubun sushi roll. We’ll show you how to prepare it using easy-to-find ingredients (recipe will be sent prior to the presentation). Feel free to join us and make your own Ehomaki!
This presentation will be conducted via Zoom. Attendees must have a device with audio and video capabilities, as well as an internet connection. The Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth reserves the right to cancel the presentation if it does not meet the minimum attendance number. Please contact us at ikuko@jasdfw.org if you have questions.
