[POSTPONED UNTIL 2021] Dallas-Sendai Young Ambassadors Program 2020: Travel to Sendai!

* According to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, Japan is currently Level 2, Practice Enhanced Precautions to travel. JASDFW is monitoring updates closely and communicating with the partner in Sendai. We are accepting applications as of today, however, the program may cancel/delay due to the spread of coronavirus.
Application Process:
Applications and teacher recommendations must be received by JASDFW before Friday, March 20, 2020 at 12:00 PM. Semi-finalists will be selected to participate in interviews. The delegation of 6 Young Ambassadors will be announced in early April.

Participation Fee:
$500
*Participants will be responsible for obtaining a passport and for passport-related fees and spending money.

The one-week program includes:
♦ Homestay with a Sendai family
♦ Local school visits
♦ Interaction with city officials
♦ Volunteer activities
♦ Tour of famous Sendai locations
♦ Airfare and all ground transportation in Japan
Eligibility:
Applicant must be:
♦ Dallas/Fort Worth area high school student (in grades 9-11)
♦ U.S. citizen
Students will be selected based on their ability to be good ambassadors. Applicants should demonstrate strong interpersonal skills, leadership ability, community involvement, international interest, and an open-minded attitude.
