Farewell for Now from Executive Director Paul Pass

October 27, 2023
Friends and supporters,
Today marks my final day with Japan-America Society of Dallas/Fort Worth. After almost 5 outstanding years, I am moving to new opportunities. I am extremely proud of everything we accomplished:
- Working through challenges of the pandemic to keep JASDFW active through a series of online events, financial profitability, and a 50th anniversary online celebration
- Ensuring financial stability for JASDFW, including profit every year, growing cash reserves over 350% during my tenure, and achieving a record cash position
- Obtaining over $528,000 in grants and earning more than $1.1 million in award dinner revenue for JASDFW program activities
- Leading a record-breaking 2019 Sun & Star Legacy Award Dinner with over $345,000 in revenue and more than 520 attendees
- Creating a 3/11 Resilience Series of programming to commemorate 10 years since the Great East Japan Earthquake & Tsunami, events included conversation with survivors, a film screening of an award-winning drama, and a panel discussion on Tohoku regional recovery
- Moving JASFDW to a new office in Plano, presiding over the largest staff size in the organization’s 53-year history, and instituting a new 401k plan for retirement savings
- Playing an integral role in recent official 25th anniversary visits from Sendai in January 2023 and to Sendai in July 2023
- Building relationships and expanding the company’s brand with key stakeholders across North Texas, the U.S., Japan, and around the world
Thank you to the search committee for giving me this amazing opportunity. Thank you to everyone with whom I was able to cultivate a relationship – board and advisory council members, our staff, and corporate members.
Sincerely,

Paul Pass
Executive Director
