[ONLINE EVENT] 2021 Mochitsuki New Year’s Celebration
Saturday, January 16, 2021 | 4:30 pm - 5:30 pm
We have few bags left from this year’s Mochitsuki New Year’s celebration, available for pick-up from our office or shipping (shipping fees will apply).
Celebrate the Year of the Ox (牛, ushi) with our first-ever virtual Mochitsuki. Learn about Japan’s rich New Year’s traditions through music performances, a mochi-pounding demonstration, kakizome – the first calligraphy of the year, origami demonstration and a unique video from Japan!
We will also hear special greetings from Consul-General Hideo Fukushima, Honorary Consul Sam Shichijo, and JASDFW board member Mark Berry, who helped begin JASDFW’s Mochitsuki and continues to be involved in the event to this day. Since we are unable to gather in-person, there will be special mochi and activity sets available for purchase.
