Saturday, November 7, 2020 | 4:00 pm - 5:30 pm
Join Nami Kroska, Visiting Assistant Professor in Literature and Languages at the University of Texas at Dallas, for a discussion on modern Japanese pop culture. She will focus on the work of Hayao Miyazaki, a Japanese animator, author, director, manga artist, and screen writer. Miyazaki is a co-founder of the renowned Studio Ghibli and he is widely regarded as one of the world’s most accomplished filmmakers in the animation genre.
This program is presented by the UTD Center for Asian Studies, which was founded in 2019 to build a substantial academic institute devoted to the study of Asian culture, economics and history, and the interaction of Asia and America. It continues the work of past Asia-focused initiatives at the University of Texas at Dallas, including the former UT Dallas Asia Center.
