Come and relax with JASDFW members and the kite makers coming from Sendai, Dallas' friendship city.

The Sendai Tako-no-kai (Kite Club) has about forty members. During the

club's 50-year history, they have focused on teaching the art of kite making based on simple and easy shapes, using very traditional and historical techniques passed down from the Edo period (1603-1868) in Japan.

The kite makers will be featured in the Trinity River Wind Festival on May

18. During the festival, kite makers will teach visitors how to make smaller

kites that can be flown on site. Their demonstration is presented by

the City of Dallas in cooperation with the World Affairs Council.
