Radio Taiso, or Rajio Taiso ( ラジオ体操 ) as its pronounced in Japanese, is a fitness routine set to music widely practiced in Japan. It was first introduced nearly a century ago and remains a staple of daily life with 6:30 AM broadcasts on TV and radio.
Composed of 13 simple movements, the exercise will get your entire body moving by focusing on muscle mobility. The routine can be performed standing or seated, making it accessible for all ages. Moreover, no equipment is required.
As Japan prepares to host the Olympics and Paralympics, Japan’s calisthenics community is hoping to raise interest in Radio Taiso across the globe as a means of promoting health through physical activity.
